Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal data when you visit our website or our park.

This Privacy Policy sets out what personal data we collect, for what purposes, on what legal basis, and what rights you have, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (“GDPR”) and applicable Portuguese law.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for personal data collected through this website and through the park’s activity is:

We don’t have a Data Protection Officer, as we’re not legally required to appoint one. Any question about privacy or personal data can be sent directly to the email address above.

2. What data we collect, and why

2.1. Website contact form

When you fill in the contact form on our site, we collect your name, email address and the message you send us, so we can reply to your enquiry.

Legal basis: taking steps at your request prior to a possible booking, or our legitimate interest in replying to enquiries you send us.

2.2. Check-in at the park

At check-in, we ask for your motorhome’s number plate, your nationality and your email address. This information is used solely for internal reception and pitch management and for billing your stay — it is not shared with any external body. Ecopark isn’t classified as a tourist establishment, so we’re not legally required to report guest data to any authority.

2.3. reCAPTCHA (Google)

Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, to prevent automated spam. This service may collect technical data about your device and how you interact with the form. Google’s own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the website from abuse and spam.

2.4. CCTV

We have motion-triggered cameras (Eufy brand) installed around the park for security purposes. These cameras don’t record continuously — they only capture a short clip of a few seconds whenever they detect movement. Footage is stored in the associated Eufy account for a maximum of one month, after which it is automatically deleted. Signage is displayed around the park to inform visitors that CCTV is in use.

3. Cookies

This website uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work (for example, to remember your chosen language), as well as reCAPTCHA cookies, referred to above.

We don’t currently use any traffic analysis tools, such as Google Analytics. Should we introduce this or any other service that uses non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first, through a dedicated notice, and this Policy will be updated accordingly.

4. Newsletter

We don’t currently run a newsletter. Once we launch one, this Policy will be updated to explain what data is collected, for what purposes, and how you can unsubscribe at any time.

5. Who we share your data with

We don’t sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data may be processed by the following service providers, strictly to the extent needed to run the website:

1. The company hosting our website (currently WordPress.com; we plan to move to LinxISP once the new site is complete)
2. Our contact form provider (WPForms)
3. Google, through reCAPTCHA
4. Eufy (Anker), the provider of the CCTV system referred to in section 2.4

Some of these providers may be based outside the European Economic Area (Google, for instance, is based in the United States). Any such international transfer of data takes place under the safeguards provided for in the GDPR, namely the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep your data

Data from the contact form and from check-in is kept only for as long as needed for the purposes described above, and to comply with our legal accounting and invoicing obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

1. Access the personal data we hold about you;
2. Request the correction of inaccurate or outdated data;
3. Request the erasure of your data;
4. Object to the processing of your data;
5. Request that processing be restricted;
6. Request the portability of your data, where applicable;
7. Withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before you did so.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the national supervisory authority — the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) — if you believe the processing of your data breaches the GDPR.

8. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

9. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be updated whenever needed, in particular once we introduce new tools such as a newsletter or Google Analytics. We recommend checking back from time to time.
